Ask Has Upwork made job hunting more expensive than it should be?

Finding work on Upwork now costs more than it used to, with Connects, boosts, and membership fees all adding up quickly. Many freelancers feel they are spending money just to apply for jobs, before even earning anything from a client. This makes job hunting feel more like a paid activity than a free chance to compete for work. Do you think Upwork has made job hunting too expensive, or is this cost still reasonable for what freelancers get in return?

Yeah it kinda has. Between the service fees and buying Connects just to apply you end up spending money before you even earn anything. If you're new and send 20 proposals with no replies that adds up fast. It's doable but it definitely feels pricier than it needs to be.
