Ask Why is my credit card being charged for Google Ads?

I've noticed a charge on my credit card for Google Ads. This came to me as a surprise because I'm not entirely sure why it's happening. I am much aware that Google ads charges your credit card when your campaign hits the billing threshold or at the end of a billing cycle. One thing about this is that I don't set automatic payment in my dashboard and this is the first time it is going to happen.

If you're running multiple campaigns, charges can also add up quickly.

As a result of this I want to ask you guys that has anyone else experienced unexpected charges on their credit card for Google Ads? How do you keep track of payments and avoid surprises?

It usually just means an ad account is running somewhere. Maybe you set up ads for a business, YouTube channel, app, or something like that and forgot about it. Google Ads just keeps running campaigns and charges your card automatically when ads are shown or when you hit a billing limit. Sometimes it's just an old campaign still active, or a shared account that someone else is using. Worst case, someone might've gotten into your account.

The reason is that you have already input your card into the dashboard of your account and that is why it is being charged on automatic. To avoid getting charged automatically next time I will advise you to set up your two authentication factor for your card to receive a prompt anytime there is a payment.

Google will charge you through your credit if you have ads running knowingly or unknowningly.
In most cases, people do forget that they set up a campaign which keeps running if it is not paused. Google charges after you hit your billing threshold or at month end.
So the best is ensure you pause all ads that you don't intend to run
