It is hard to understand why some clients ask you to complete significant work before they agree to release any payment, even a small deposit. In almost every other profession, some form of upfront payment is expected before serious work begins. Asking a freelancer to work without any financial commitment puts all the risk on one side. Have you ever been asked to complete work before a deposit was agreed on, and how did you respond to that kind of request?
