Ask Why do keywords that seem perfect for a business bring in visitors who never spend any money?

Many businesses choose keywords based on search volume and forget to think about why people are searching in the first place. A keyword may look perfect, but the visitors behind it may only want free information instead of buying anything. For example, people searching for "cheap logo ideas" may not be serious customers. I think too many marketers chase traffic numbers because they look impressive in reports, even when those visitors never become buyers. Search intent usually matters more than traffic size because the wrong audience rarely spends money. In your opinion, are businesses paying too much attention to traffic instead of buyer behavior?

I think many businesses do focus too much on traffic numbers instead of understanding buyer intent. High traffic can look impressive on reports, but if those visitors aren't actually ready to take action, it doesn't translate into real revenue. In many cases, a smaller but highly targeted audience with strong intent is far more valuable than large volumes of unqualified visitors. That's why focusing on user behavior, intent, and conversion potential usually leads to better long-term results than chasing keywords based only on search volume.

Sometimes ideal keywords attract the wrong audience because they're too broad or ambiguous. A term may fit a business conceptually, but searchers might be looking for free solutions, general information, or something slightly different bringing high traffic that never converts into paying customers.

A lot of businesses still focus too much on search volume because it looks good in dashboards, but it doesn't always mean sales. High-traffic keywords can attract people just browsing, not buying. What really matters is intent someone looking to hire is far more valuable than someone just looking for ideas or free options.
