I hired a designer just for a logo. Two days later I got a long message about SEO, website redesign, email funnels, and brand strategy. I get that upselling is normal, but it felt pushy and off topic. I only wanted one thing done well. Now I am hesitant to reply because I do not want a sales pitch. Maybe they think they are helping, but it is overwhelming. Why do freelance try to force other services on the client

It's understandable that you feel overwhelmed by the designer's attempt to upsell you on additional services like SEO, website redesign, email funnels, and brand strategy when all you initially wanted was a logo design. Freelancers may try to propose additional services for a variety of reasons:

1. **Increase Revenue:** Freelancers often rely on multiple streams of income to sustain their business, and suggesting supplementary services is a way to boost their earnings.

2. **Client Relationship:** Some freelancers genuinely believe that offering extra services can strengthen the client relationship by demonstrating a broader range of skills and expertise to meet all your needs.

3. **Value Addition:** Freelancers may believe that the additional services could add value to your project or business, even if you didn't request them initially. They might see it as an opportunity to help you achieve greater success.

4. **Improved Results:** From the freelancer's perspective, combining different services like logo design and SEO might yield better results for your business than just having a standalone logo.

However, it's crucial for freelancers to strike a balance between upselling additional services and respecting the client's original request. It seems like in your case, the designer may have crossed that line, resulting in you feeling pressured and hesitant to engage further.

If you are not interested in the additional services at the moment, it's perfectly okay to communicate this clearly and assert your initial scope. A polite response stating that you appreciate their suggestions but are solely focused on the logo design project for now should set the boundaries. Good freelancers will understand and respect your decision.
