Ask Should I pay for influencer shoutouts?

Paying for influencer shoutouts can work, but only if the influencer has real followers who trust their opinions. An influencer is someone who has many followers and can convince people to try a product. Before paying, it is important to check if their followers like, comment, and interact with their posts. If people do not interact, the shoutout may not bring results. It is also better if the influencer talks about products related to your business. Do you think influencer marketing still works well today?

I think influencer marketing still works today, but only when it is done with the right influencers. People are more likely to trust recommendations from influencers who have genuine followers and strong engagement rather than just a large audience. A shoutout can be effective if the influencer's content matches your business and their followers actively interact with their posts. The key is focusing on authenticity and relevance, not just follower count.

Influencer marketing still works, but it is not as simple as paying someone with a large following. Many people now pay attention to whether the influencer is genuine and whether the product fits their usual content. A smaller creator with an active audience can sometimes bring better results than a famous account with very little engagement. Trust is what makes the difference.

There is still a place for influencer marketing today because people often like hearing about products from someone they already follow. The problem comes when influencers promote too many unrelated products. Followers can quickly lose confidence if every post looks like an advertisement. Choosing someone whose audience matches the product is usually more important than follower count alone.

I tried something similar a while back and the traffic looked great for a day or two. The problem was that almost nobody stayed around after clicking. That made me realize getting visitors and getting real buyers are two different things.

Funny enough, some of the best recommendations I follow online don't even feel like promotions. They feel natural because the creator actually uses the product. Once every post starts looking like an ad, I stop paying attention.

One thing people forget is negotiation. Some influencers throw out a price and expect you to accept it. There is nothing wrong with asking questions, requesting past results, or even offering a smaller test campaign first.

Paid shoutouts can work but you have to be careful about who you pick. Some influencers have big numbers and zero real engagement. Their audience just scrolls past. Before you spend anything, check if people actually comment and respond on their posts, not just like them.

The niche matters more than the follower count. A creator with 8k followers who talks about the exact thing you are selling will always beat someone with 200k followers in a random space. Don't chase big names just because they look impressive.

Honestly, the risk isn't just losing money. If the influencer posts something that doesn't match your brand or says the wrong thing, you are attached to that. People will associate your product with whatever they said. Vet them properly before anything.

The price thing is real. Some influencers will charge you like they are running a media company. And there's no standard rate. You could pay three times more than someone else for the same reach. Always negotiate and ask for their past results first.
