Pushing new followers straight to an email list too early can feel like meeting someone and immediately asking for their number. It tends to put people off. Most successful brands spend time first by posting useful content, answering questions, and showing that they actually care about their audience. Once people trust the brand and find value in what it shares, they are far more likely to sign up for an email list without being pushed hard.
 
It usually works better to let the relationship grow first instead of pushing for an email signup immediately. On social media, people are still getting to know the brand, so focusing on value like useful posts, tips, or entertainment builds trust first. Once they're engaged, they're more likely to join an email list because they see a clear benefit. A soft, well-timed invite works better than an early hard push.
 
A brand should start encouraging social followers to join its email list fairly early, but not in a pushy way. The best approach is to provide value first through useful content and then offer a good reason to subscribe, such as exclusive tips, discounts, or resources. That way, people feel they are gaining something rather than being pressured into signing up.
 
From my perspective, building the relationship should come before making aggressive email list requests. Followers who have already engaged with your content and trust your brand are more likely to become active email subscribers. A gradual approach often leads to a higher-quality list filled with people who genuinely want to hear from you.
