It feels like starting out as a freelancer takes so much more effort now than it used to. Platforms that used to welcome new people are now packed with experienced freelancers who have hundreds of reviews, which makes it hard for someone just starting to get noticed. Rates have also dropped in some fields because more people are competing for the same jobs. I am curious if people who started recently feel the same pressure, or if there are still good ways to get your first few clients without much history behind you.
