Video often gets a lot of attention because it is easy to watch and can explain ideas quickly. However, that does not mean text posts are always weaker. Some platforms have users who enjoy reading short opinions, tips, and discussions. In some cases, a strong text post can create more conversation than a video. The platform, audience, and content all play a part in the result. Do you think video should always be the first choice for marketers today?

I don't think video should always be the first choice. Video is powerful for grabbing attention and explaining things quickly, but it's not always the most effective or practical option. Text content can perform better in places where people are looking for quick insights, opinions, or searchable information, and it's also faster and cheaper to produce. In my opinion, the best approach is to choose the format based on the audience and goal, not just default to video every time.

Not really, video does not always perform better than text posts. A lot depends on the platform and the audience. On platforms that are built around short videos, video content often gets more attention. But in discussion forums, professional networks, or communities where people want detailed information, a well-written text post can sometimes get more engagement.

Video gets pushed more on some platforms just because of how the algorithm works, not because people actually prefer it. On Reddit or certain forums, a well written text post can get way more engagement than a video nobody wants to sit through. Platform matters more than the format itself.

My experience with LinkedIn showed me that text posts with a personal story got more comments than any video I ever posted there. People scroll fast and sometimes they just read. Video isn't automatically the better choice, it depends on who's watching and how they use the platform.

The question should be about who you re trying to reach, not just which format looks more impressive. Older audiences on Facebook might read long posts. Younger users might not watch a video past the first five seconds unless it hooks them immediately. Format alone doesn't decide anything.

One thing I have noticed is that text posts age better. A good written post can still get traffic two years later through search. Most videos just disappear after the first few days unless the platform keeps pushing them. Long-term reach from text is underrated.

I think it also depends on what you are explaining. A recipe or a workout routine is easier to show in video. But if you are making an argument or sharing an opinion, text lets people read at their own pace and process it properly. Format should follow content.

TikTok without video makes no sense. But on a platform like this one or Quora, a detailed text response is what people come for. Saying video always wins is like saying shoes are always better than sandals without asking where the person is going.

There's also the cost side nobody mentions. Writing a post takes 20 minutes. Producing a decent video can take hours. So even if video performs slightly better, is it worth three times the effort? That calculation changes everything depending on your situation.

I don't think video always outperforms text posts. It depends a lot on the platform and the audience. On platforms like TikTok and YouTube, video naturally gets more attention because that is what people expect to see there. On the other hand, text posts can still perform very well on forums, communities, and professional networks where people are looking for detailed information and discussions.
