A personal recommendation from a friend carries a lot of trust because you know that person and believe they would not steer you wrong. An online review comes from a stranger, so there is always a small doubt about whether it is genuine. That said, when a business has hundreds of positive reviews from different people, the sheer number starts to build its own kind of trust. Many people read online reviews the same way they would ask a friend for advice, especially when they have no one around to ask. Do you think online reviews have become reliable enough to replace word-of-mouth recommendations?

Personal recommendations still feel more trustworthy because they come from someone you know and understand, so there's built-in context and honesty you can rely on. Online reviews, on the other hand, are more mixed you don't know the reviewer, so there's always some doubt. But when there are many detailed, consistent reviews, they can almost match word-of-mouth in influence, especially for everyday decisions like restaurants, products, or services. So I'd say reviews don't fully replace personal recommendations, but they've become a strong backup when personal advice isn't available.

I think personal recommendations usually carry more weight because they come from someone you already trust. The difference is that with a friend's recommendation, you know their experience is genuine, while online reviews can sometimes be fake, biased, or influenced by incentives. That makes personal advice feel more reliable to many people.

Online reviews are very important these days because they give people a quick way to learn about a product or service before spending money. Still, many people trust recommendations from friends or family more because those opinions come from someone they already know and believe will be honest.

Online reviews are useful, but they don't fully replace personal recommendations. Advice from someone you know feels more trustworthy because it's based on a real connection. Still, when many customers share similar experiences, reviews can be a reliable guide. Most people use both when making decisions.
