Ask Do people engage more with content that teaches them something or content that entertains them?

It depends on the platform and the audience. On LinkedIn or YouTube, people tend to respond well to content that teaches them something useful. On Instagram or TikTok, entertaining content gets more attention and shares. The interesting thing is that the best content often does both at the same time. A short video that makes you laugh while teaching you something tends to perform better than a post that only does one of those things. Which type of content do you think builds a more loyal audience in the long run?

Internet data costs a lot of money in many countries, so people cannot waste time watching long, funny videos. They prefer content that gives direct answers to their questions quickly. Entertainment is good when data is free, but useful information is what people will spend their hard money to open.

Learning things that solve real daily problems creates a very strong bond between readers and creators. When someone teaches you how to fix a real issue, you will always remember them. Entertainment is good for passing time, but people always follow creators who give them real knowledge that makes life better.

From what I see, I think people often engage more with entertaining content at first because it grabs attention quickly and feels easy to consume. On social media, people are usually scrolling fast, so funny, emotional, or relatable posts tend to stop them more than long educational posts.

Mixing education with entertainment sounds good, but it is not easy to do. Many times, the funny parts take over and people forget the actual lesson. It is better to just choose one side clearly instead of trying to force both things into a single short video that confuses everyone.

Long term loyalty does not even exist on social media anymore because algorithms control what people see. Even if someone loves a page that teaches them things, they will stop seeing it if the platform changes the rules. The type of content matters less than how the app spreads it.

Creative people face heavy stress trying to make every lesson funny. Teaching is already hard work on its own, and adding comedy makes the job double. Many online creators stop making videos completely because trying to satisfy these two sides at the same time takes away all their energy very quickly.

Age matters a lot here because older people usually look for deep knowledge while younger generations prefer quick entertainment. A platform full of older users will always value serious text over funny videos. You cannot use the same style for everyone when their reasons for coming online are completely different.

Entertaining videos get a lot of quick shares and likes, but that does not mean the followers are loyal. True loyalty comes when people see value that can help their lives. A funny page might have millions of followers who never buy anything or support the creator in the future.

People engage with both, but entertainment usually grabs attention faster, while educational content builds deeper and longer-lasting engagement. The most effective content combines the two teaching something useful in an engaging, enjoyable way. When people learn while being entertained, they are more likely to watch, remember, share, and return for more.
