Ask What do you do when a new client asks you to sign a contract that heavily favors them?

I have noticed that some contracts are written in a way that gives most control to the client, leaving the freelancer with little protection. A contract is meant to protect both sides and clearly state roles, payment, and deadlines. When it is one-sided, it can feel risky to agree. I believe freelancers should understand what they are signing before moving forward. How do you review such contracts, and what steps do you take if the terms seem unfair or unbalanced?

When a new client hands me a contract that's totally stacked in their favor, I don't just sign it. I go through it carefully to see what could bite me later. If something seems off, I bring it up and suggest tweaks to make it fair for both sides. Sometimes I run it by a lawyer or a friend who knows contracts. If they're not willing to budge, I have to decide if the gig's worth the hassle or if it's better to pass. Bottom line: look out for yourself, be upfront, and keep it professional

You just don't sign a contract. You read through the clients to look for some loopholes. If the loopholes will surely work against you, then you need to think twice and then make sure that you review the contract even if it takes you to get legal advice on it.

To be honest signing a contract that only favors one side is risky, so it is better to slow down and read everything carefully. If the terms look unfair, don't rush to agree just because you want the deal. It can cause bigger problems later.

This is the reason why it is always better to get contract read and understood before you start signing it. With that, you will know whether you are to go for such a contract or not. It is always better to go for at least the one that will benefit the two parties
