Ask Why does YouTube keep pushing old videos over new ones from the same channel?

YouTube recommends videos based on how well they perform, not how recent they are. If an old video has strong watch time, many comments, and people finishing it all the way through, the algorithm sees it as something worth recommending. A new video starts with no performance history, so it takes time before YouTube knows who to show it to. Old videos that already proved themselves keep getting pushed because the data behind them is solid. So what do you think YouTube should do differently to give newer videos a fair chance?
