Ask Why do some websites with old and ugly designs still rank better than clean and modern ones?

Google is not looking at your design when it decides where to rank your page. It is looking at whether your content genuinely answers what someone searched for. An old website that has been around for years may have hundreds of other sites linking to it, which Google reads as a sign that people trust it. It may also have years of detailed content built up on its topic. A new, well-designed site with little content and few links pointing to it will have a hard time competing no matter how good it looks. Design helps people stay on your site, but it does not directly tell Google your page deserves to rank. Do you think Google should factor in design and user experience more heavily when ranking pages?
