Ask Why do some clients speak to freelancers as if the freelancer should feel lucky just to have the work?

This attitude shows up more often than people talk about, and it is usually from clients who see freelancers as cheap help rather than skilled professionals. They give feedback like they are doing you a favour, and sometimes speak in ways they would never use with an agency or a company. The strange thing is these same clients often need the work done well. Have you ever dealt with this, and how did you respond?

It is a manipulation strategy and you should never fall for it. It should be other way around it is the client who is supposed to be free lucky to have you as a freelance because you are confident in your service that they are going to experience 100% satisfaction.
