Ask Why do some clients send a brief with almost no information and expect the output to match exactly what they imagined?

Some clients hand over a project brief that has barely two sentences in it and then act surprised when the first draft does not read their mind. It seems like they expect you to already know their brand voice, their audience, their goals, and their preferred tone without any of that being written down. What makes this confusing is that these same clients often have very strong opinions about the result once they see it. Have you found a way to get more information out of clients who send almost nothing to work with?
