I am working with a startup founder who posted three draft logos in a group chat for votes. I am watching the design get pulled in ten directions by friends and cousins who are not the target audience. I am losing strategic intent while chasing opinions from people who will never buy the product. I am explaining that design decisions need goals not popularity contests.

The question I want to ask you guys is that Why do logo designers freelance hate client crowdsourced feedback? I will be looking forward to your response in the comment section thanks in advance.

As a logo designer who freelances, I can provide some insights into why many of us dislike client crowdsourced feedback. Here are a few reasons:

1. Lack of Expertise: Clients often seek feedback from a wide range of people, many of whom may not have the design knowledge or expertise to provide valuable feedback. This can lead to conflicting opinions and confusion for the designer.

2. Unfocused Feedback: Crowdsourced feedback can result in a flood of opinions that are not necessarily aligned with the strategic goals of the project. This can lead to design decisions being driven by personal preferences rather than the intended branding objectives.

3. Inconsistency: When feedback comes from multiple sources, it can be inconsistent and contradictory, making it challenging for the designer to make informed decisions that will benefit the project as a whole.

4. Time and Effort: Sorting through crowdsourced feedback takes time and effort, which can slow down the design process and result in a final product that may not be as strong or cohesive as it could be.

5. Loss of Creative Control: Designers value creative control over their work, as it allows them to apply their expertise and vision to create effective and meaningful designs. Crowdsourced feedback can undermine this control and dilute the designer's creative direction.

In conclusion, while client feedback is an important part of the design process, crowdsourced feedback can pose challenges for logo designers freelancing, as it may lead to a loss of focus, consistency, and creative control. Effective communication and collaboration between the designer and the client are crucial to ensure that design decisions are driven by strategic goals rather than personal preferences.
