Why are so many freelancers unreliable?

There is no doubt that there are more of unreliable freelancers out there. Some of them will promise to deliver the jobs at a particular time, only for them not to meet up. Some of them however will make sure that they collect money and refuse to do the tasks they are called for. Many of them will make sure that they didn't do what they promised the clients to do. All these will make most of the people believing that freelancers are all unreliable.
