Why are freelancers not making enough money to save for dry days?

It is not all freelancers that are saving for the dry days. There are some of them that do believe that they will be getting clients always. And they believe that they don't need to be saving that much again. Apart from this, some don't even have saving culture. They don't really put much energy on saving making it difficult for them to save enough for themselves in case of the dry days.
 
A lot of freelancers undercharge just to land clients and then get stuck there. Income comes in waves so when work is busy money goes to bills not savings. No benefits taxes and slow months eat into profit. Without raising rates or budgeting for dry days it is hard to put anything aside.
