Why are freelancers all about money these days?

And when I was asked this particular question, to be honest, I didn't give any answer for the first five minutes. I won't be so hypocritical to say that I didn't notice this. I just don't know that it is that bad. And I won't be generalizing. There are still some freelancers for sure that are not after money but they just want to satisfying their clients and also get satisfied. What's your opinion?
