Some people write content first and add affiliate links later when the site gets traffic. Others add links from the beginning even with no visitors yet. Adding links early means everything is ready when traffic comes, but it also means spending time on links that might not get clicked for months. Waiting until traffic builds up means links only go where people are actually reading. But this can also delay earnings if good traffic arrives and there are no links ready. Timing this decision can affect both work effort and income flow. Which timing approach makes more sense?

In my experience, it usually makes sense to add affiliate links as you create content rather than waiting. This way, your posts are fully monetized from day one, so any early traffic can start generating revenue immediately. You can still adjust or add links later based on what's performing well, but having them in place early avoids missing opportunities. For beginners, this approach balances effort and potential earnings without needing to revisit every article later.

The right time is when your content already has some traffic and people are engaging with it. If a post is getting views from search or social, adding affiliate links at that point can bring quick results. It works better than adding links to content that nobody is reading yet.

Not every post needs affiliate links. Some articles are just meant to bring people in, not close a sale. Chasing links on every piece of content makes the whole site feel like a store, and readers notice that. Focus on posts where buying intent is actually there.

There is no universal rule for this. A post decent rankings but low buyer intent will perform worse with links than a smaller post targeting people who are close to a decision. Match the links to the intent behind the search, not just the traffic numbers.

Content that answers product-specific questions is almost always ready for links early. If someone is reading a post called "best tools for X" they are already in buying mode. That kind of content can carry affiliate links from day one without feeling out of place.

Traffic alone is not the full picture. A post can get lots of visitors and still not convert because the content is not written for buyers. Before adding links, check if the post answers questions that someone would ask right before making a purchase.

Some people wait for a post to rank on page one before touching it with affiliate links, which makes sense if you are worried about affecting performance. But if the content already converts visitors well on other metrics, there is no reason to keep holding back.

You need to make sure that you have more customers on your page first. When you have the number of customers, then you can easily add your affiliate links. Make sure that you are monitoring the links to know the performance of the links among the customers.
