Ask When is it time to stop promoting certain affiliate products?

There comes a point where some affiliate products just do not perform anymore because the market changes or people lose interest in them. Keeping links to these products on a site can make the whole page look outdated and waste visitor attention. Removing or replacing underperforming products keeps the focus on what actually converts and brings income. This way the site stays relevant and does not confuse readers with too many options. How do you decide which products to remove and which ones to keep promoting?

Decisions usually come down to performance data and current relevance. Products that get steady traffic but very few conversions over time are strong candidates for removal, especially if the trend is consistently flat or declining. It also helps to check whether the product still matches what the audience actually wants today, since better or newer alternatives often appear. The best ones to keep are those that still convert reliably and clearly fit the topic and intent of the content, even if they are not the top earners.

I think it's time to stop promoting an affiliate product when it no longer brings results. If you notice very low clicks or almost no conversions after trying different angles, it may mean the offer is not strong anymore or your audience is not interested. At that point, it makes sense to test other products instead of forcing it.

If people keep leaving bad reviews, asking for refunds, or complaining about the quality, it's probably time to move on. The same goes if the product is outdated, no longer available, or the company starts getting a bad reputation. It's better to protect your trust with your audience than make a few extra sales. People are more likely to listen to your recommendations if they know you only share products that actually work and are useful. In the long run, being honest and choosing quality products will help you build a loyal audience

One thing I usually look at first is the numbers. If a product has been getting clicks for a long time but almost no sales, that is a strong sign something is wrong. Sometimes the product is no longer attractive, the commission has dropped, or there are simply better alternatives available.

One thing that makes the decision easier is checking the numbers over a few months instead of looking at one bad week. If a product keeps getting clicks but almost no sales, then it may be time to replace it. It is also good to check if the product is still available, has good reviews, and is still useful.
