I've been feeling a bit confused about what heatmap testing really reveals on native ad landing pages. I've set up a few tests to see where users click and how they scroll through the content. Sometimes the results don't match what I expected from the design.

I've compared different layouts and call-to-action placements. Watching the areas that get the most attention helped me rethink some of my assumptions. It's interesting to see how user behavior shifts depending on the page elements.

I'm still trying to make sense of all the data. What lessons have you learned from heatmap testing native ad landing pages?

People just scan and click super fast. Hotspots are usually around pics, headlines, and buttons, so that's where you wanna put the important stuff. If something looks too obvious, users skip it, so blending it in helps. Colors, spacing, and layout totally change where eyes go first. And honestly, what you think is obvious often isn't as heatmaps show you all the surprises about what actually grabs attention and what gets ignored

First off, the fold is a myth. If they bounce before the second paragraph, the ad creative lied. Misclicks are wild. Half the engagement on images is just users tapping to enlarge them or trying to close pop-ups. We learned to ignore those red zones. Also, nobody reads paragraphs. They scan headlines, bullet points, and bold text. If a benefit isn't scannable, it doesn't exist. Finally, rage clicks on non-linked text are pure gold. If users hammer a price or stat, we make that a button. Native traffic is impatient and skeptical.
