Reliable email tools help maintain low bounce rates. High thresholds signal issues with your list quality. You should aim for better engagement and deliverability. Keeping bounce rates low protects your campaigns. Always prioritize list hygiene in email marketing efforts.
 
I believe there is no single number that fits everyone, but many providers react fast when hard bounces reach around two percent. At that point, accounts can get limited or even paused. Hard bounces tell email providers that the list quality is poor. In my opinion, if you see it getting close to one percent, that's already a sign to take action and remove bad emails right away.
 
If it starts creeping up to 3–5%, that's already a sign your email list is getting messy and needs cleaning. Anything above 5% is kinda a red flag, because email services might start trusting you less and your emails won't land in inboxes as well. And if it ever gets close to 10%, that's pretty bad and can hurt your whole email account. So basically, lower is better, and keeping your list clean is the main thing.
