What is a Kill Fee clause in a freelance contract?

I don't know if there is someone here that I have heard about kill fee. It is one of the terms that freelancers should put in tjer contracts whenever they want to have agreements with clients. It states that freelancers should be paid, in fact, full, whenever the clients cancel the deal abruptly. This is to safeguard the freelancers. For many reasons, clients may decide to cancel the tasks. This should not affect the freelancers.
 
These amount cover the time you have spent on the project before the client decided to cancel it. It is common experience to have a client to have a change of mind during the project. So the platform usually bring updates just to protect you from losing completely when the client back out from the contract
