I want to go into paid ads fully and I have been looking into Facebook metrics, and I'm curious about what qualifies as a good cost per 1,000 people reached (CPM). It seems like this metric varies based on target audience, niche, and ad objective.

It seems lower CPM often indicates better ad efficiency, but balancing cost with engagement and conversions is just as important. Understanding how to optimize campaigns for better reach while staying cost-effective can make a big difference in results. The cost per 1,000 people reached, or CPM, can vary a lot depending on your industry, audience, and ad quality. On average, many small businesses see CPMs between $5 and $15. If your audience is very competitive or specialized, it can go higher, but staying in this range is generally reasonable.
 
A good CPM also depends on your goals. If your ad is reaching a highly targeted audience that is likely to convert, paying a bit more can still be worth it. Cheaper CPMs aren't always better if the audience isn't relevant to your business.
 
Usually somewhere between $5 and $15 is pretty decent. If it's under $10, that's honestly a win. Sometimes it goes higher if you're targeting a super specific audience or running ads during busy times like holidays. If it's lower, it usually means your ad is hitting the right people and they're actually engaging with it, which Facebook likes. But yeah, don't stress too much about just getting it cheap

For instance if you are targeting healthcare then CPMs is around $5.31 to $5.78. But for industries like fintech and B2B may have higher CPMs, ranging from $19.35 to $22.50
