Some clients now see AI as a reason to lower your rate. Their thinking is that if a tool is doing part of the work, then you are doing less and should earn less. What they often miss is that knowing how to use AI tools well is itself a skill. It takes experience to get good results from them, and even more experience to know when not to use them. The final output still requires judgment, editing, and professional input. How do you respond when a client uses your use of AI tools as a reason to negotiate your rate down?
