I'm new to freelancing and struggling with client communication. Sometimes, they don't respond for days. Other times, they send unclear instructions, and I don't know how to ask for more details without sounding annoying.

I want to keep things professional and avoid misunderstandings. Should I use emails, calls, or messaging apps? How often should I check in with clients? I also don't want to seem too pushy or unprofessional.

Document everything important in writing. If a client calls and changes the project scope, send an email after the call summarizing what they said. Something like "Based on our call today, I understand you now want A instead of B. Let me know if I got that right." This protects you if they later claim they never asked for those changes.

Ask for clarification right away when instructions are unclear. Send a message like "Just to make sure I understand correctly, you want X done by Y date, right?" Most clients appreciate this because it shows you care about getting things right. Waiting and guessing leads to revisions and frustration on both sides.
