Ask Do freelance platforms allow freelancers to communicate with clients before a contract is signed?

There is always a question of how much talking is allowed before anything official is agreed upon. Most platforms do allow some level of messaging before a contract starts, especially during the proposal or interview stage. This is meant to help both sides figure out if the job is a good fit. But there are limits. Platforms usually watch these early conversations for any attempt to move communication off the platform or share personal contact details too soon. It is a balance between getting clarity on the job and staying within what the platform allows. How do you handle those early conversations before a contract is in place?
