It is a wide discussion on whether social media marketing should be regulated or not. Those that want social media marketing to be regulated are of the opinion of different dubious acts that happen there. There are deception, fraud and even selling of unspeakable things.

However, those that are against this are of opinion that social media marketing has really helped in ensuring convinience and availability of goods and services has been made easier. They do it as a seamless way of making goods and services available worldwide.

What's your take about it?

I believe social media platforms needs to be regulated especially over here in my country. The reason is that the majority of the people are now content creator and the publish whatever comes to their mind. Due to the monetization program available on most platforms, people publish content on anything just to gain engagement and followers. Some of these content comes with absolute defamation on the character of other people which is not good for the mental health. As the result is very important for government to regulate social Media platform.

Social media marketing should be made to promote goods and serve and other contents. But the situation where people promotes uncalled for contents, all in the name of making money, then something needs to be done. Just like the poster above me observed keenly, there are some Facebook users that posts just to tarnish other people or promote controversial posts to ensure engagement and traffic to their post. All these should make social media marketing regulated.

Basic consumer protection laws should apply to social media just like any other advertising. This means no false claims, clear return policies, and honest pricing. But new regulations specifically for social media could slow down innovation and make it harder for new businesses to compete with big companies that can afford compliance costs. The focus should be on enforcing existing laws rather than creating completely new rules that might not keep up with how fast technology changes.

Regulating social media should not be done arbitrarily. In fact, it should be done when the situation at hand is getting out of hand. Bad messages should be regulated. There should be age verification and content verification before contents shall be posted on the social media platforms.

I feel social media marketing should have some rules. Without rules, some companies can mislead people with false claims or spam. Simple regulations could protect users and make marketing honest, but it shouldn't stop creativity. It's about keeping it safe and fair for everyone while still letting businesses grow online.

Yes, some regulations are important for social media marketing to keep it fair and safe. There are too many cases of scams or influencers not saying they're being paid for promotions. Rules that require clear disclosure and honesty would help build trust with audiences. But it's also important not to over-regulate, as it might make it harder for new marketers or small creators to succeed. Balance is the key.

Social media should be regulated. If not the platform will be filled with watery contents. There are some people that are just posting even when what they are posting don't really make sense. This has really justified the reason why social media needs to be regulated for effectiveness.
