Some freelance platforms already make good money every year, yet they keep adding new charges instead of lowering the ones that already exist. This makes many freelancers wonder if the company cares about the community or just wants more profit for shareholders. A platform that is already doing well financially should be able to lower fees a little and still stay strong. Should platforms that are clearly profitable be required to bring fees down for the people using them?

Yes they should. If a platform is already making good profit keeping fees high just squeezes freelancers more. Lower fees mean freelancers keep more of what they earn and stay motivated. That also brings better talent and more work to the platform. In the long run everyone wins the platform included.
