This depends on how new the business is and what stage the marketing is at. Traffic shows whether people are finding you, but it does not tell you much on its own. Leads, meaning people who express interest by signing up or reaching out, are a stronger signal because they suggest the message is working. Sales take longer to come and are usually not a fair measure in the very early days. Watching traffic and lead quality together gives a more honest picture of whether the marketing is actually working. What do you think is the fairest metric to track in early stage marketing?
 
I think qualified leads are the fairest metric to focus on in the early stages because they show that your marketing is attracting people who are genuinely interested, not just generating visits. Traffic is useful for measuring awareness, but it doesn't always lead to business results. Tracking both lead quality and conversion trends, along with traffic, gives a clearer picture of whether your messaging is reaching the right audience and creating real opportunities for growth.
 
I think it depends on the stage of the business, but I would not focus on traffic alone. Traffic is useful because it shows people are finding your content, but if those visitors are not becoming leads or customers, something needs to improve. In the early stages, I would track traffic and leads together while working toward increasing sales over time.
 
In the early stages, it is better to look at more than one number instead of focusing only on sales. Traffic shows whether people are finding the business, while leads show if they are interested enough to take action. Sales are still important, but they may take time to grow as the marketing improves and trust is built.
