Ask Should businesses respond publicly to negative reviews or handle it privately?

Negative reviews put a business in a tough spot because whatever they do is visible to everyone reading the review section. Responding publicly shows other customers that the business cares and takes complaints seriously, but it can also turn into an argument if not handled carefully. Handling it privately might solve the problem quietly, but it leaves other readers without seeing how the issue was resolved. Which approach do you think builds more confidence in a business, a public reply or a private one?
