Ask Is the race to the bottom on freelance platforms worse because of AI or was it always like this?

Freelance platforms have always had people willing to undercut prices to win a job, and that has made it harder for serious freelancers to compete on price alone. But now with AI, even the work itself can be generated cheaply, which pushes rates even lower. It feels like the problem got worse, not just different. Some freelancers say this was always the reality of open platforms, and AI just made it more visible. What is your experience, and do you think AI changed the pricing problem or just added to something that was already broken?
