Free tools work well at the beginning, but they start to fall short once an agency grows. When you're handling multiple clients, larger audiences, and more complex campaigns, you need better automation, reporting, and collaboration features. That's usually the point where basic free plans become too limited and upgrading to paid tools becomes necessary.
 
It is possible, but it depends on what level of work is expected. Free tools can handle basic tasks like content creation, keyword research, design, and scheduling posts, but they usually come with limits that make scaling harder when clients increase.
Some people start with only free tools just to build experience and get their first clients. Tools like Canva, free SEO tools, and social media schedulers can cover simple agency work at the beginning, but at some point paid tools become useful for better speed and results.
