A portfolio is basically a collection of past work that shows potential clients what you are capable of doing. The problem is, when you are just starting out, you have no past work to show because no one has hired you yet. It feels like a cycle that is hard to break out of. Some people get around this by doing free work or personal projects just to have something to show. So I want to ask, do you think it is possible to get your first freelance client without having a portfolio ready?
