Is it a must you check on your client as freelancers?

This will be based on your discretion. You may decide to be nice and check on your clients on the days that you feel like checking. But it doesn't mean that it is a must. There are some people that will not even check and that doesn't stop the clients from using them for their tasks as well. However, you need to find ways by which you can be keeping in touch with your clients. Doing that will be strengthen your relationship.
