Skill can open the first door, but honesty seems to be what keeps that door open for a long time. A freelancer who admits mistakes early or tells a client the truth about timelines often earns more respect than one who is highly skilled but avoids uncomfortable conversations. I have started to believe honesty carries more weight over time than raw talent alone. What do you think matters more when a working relationship needs to last for years?

The skill you want to offer in the marketplace is the foundation of the freelance. If you don't have the skills there is no amount of honesty that can cover you up in the process to make money with freelance business. It is good to have skills and be exceptional at it
