Ask Is email marketing still relevant or has it been replaced by social media?

Email marketing is still one of the most effective tools in digital marketing. When someone gives you their email address, they are saying they want to hear from you directly. Social media is good for reaching new people, but the platform controls who sees your posts. With email, you send a message and it lands right in the inbox of the people who signed up. Businesses that build email lists properly tend to get better results from them than from social media alone. Do you think email marketing gets less credit than it deserves in this era of social media?

Google making broad match the default tells you what direction they are going. Less advertiser control, more automation. Whether that is good or bad depends on how much you trust Google to care about your profit and not just getting you to spend more. Those two things are not always the same goal.

Many people think social media killed emails, but that is wrong. I get more sales from my mailing list than any post on social apps. People check their inbox every single day. It feels like a private space where they actually pay attention to what you send to them now.

Is it just me or does email feel a bit old? I personally prefer seeing updates in my feed while I am relaxing. I do not want to dig through my messages to find what a brand is doing. Maybe the old way is just not for everyone anymore, honestly.

Getting someone to give you their email address is a big deal today. People are so careful about who they trust with their digital home. When they let you in, you have a chance to show them your value. It is harder to get, but much better for business.

I feel like social media moves way too fast for anyone to keep up. One day you are popular and the next you are forgotten by the algorithm. Email stays there until you open it. It is much more stable for building a real relationship with people who like you.

Are we sure email is better? Sometimes I just delete everything in my inbox without looking. At least on social media, I see pictures and videos that catch my eyes as I scroll. Maybe we need both methods to reach people, because relying on just one seems like a mistake.

I wonder if younger people even use email anymore. My younger brother says he only uses it for school or work logins. Everything else happens in private chat apps or social feeds. If the next generation ignores the inbox, then all this talk about email marketing will soon end forever.

Email marketing is still highly relevant because it gives businesses direct access to their audience without relying on changing social media algorithms. While social platforms are excellent for reach and engagement, email consistently delivers stronger personalization, customer retention, and conversion opportunities. Rather than replacing email, social media works best alongside it as part of a broader marketing strategy.
