Ask Is Dribbble actually useful for finding freelance clients?

Dribbble gets talked about a lot in design circles, but there seems to be a real split between designers who say it brought them clients and those who say it is mostly just a place to post work with little business return. Building a strong profile there takes real time and effort, and it is not always clear what turns views into actual client inquiries. Some designers say the Pro membership makes a difference, while others feel it does not move the needle much. Has Dribbble actually helped you get freelance clients, or is it more of a portfolio showcase?
