Digital marketing needs some skills. And these skills need to be mastered for effective carrying out of it. There are some skills like persuasive, how to write catchy words and as well as how to monitor the performance of the users.

Mastering these skills may not be enough, a good digital marketer must also learn how to include trending things. There should be adaptation, ability to learn, unlearn and relearn, inorder to catch up with the trending things.

I'd take online courses from trusted platforms like Google, HubSpot, or Coursera to build a strong foundation. Then, I'd practice by running small campaigns on social media or Google Ads to see what actually works. Keeping up with new trends is important too, so I'd follow marketing blogs, podcasts, and influencers. Networking with other marketers and joining online communities would help me learn faster. Most importantly, I'd track my results, experiment with different strategies, and keep improving

Start with one channel instead of trying to learn everything at once. Maybe focus on Facebook ads or email marketing first, get good at that, then move to the next thing. Practice matters more than just reading about it. Set up small campaigns with your own money, even if it's just $20, so you can see what works and what doesn't in real situations.

A lot of those tutorials teach outdated methods or stuff that doesn't apply to real business problems. You learn way more by working on actual projects, even if you mess up at first. Find a local business or a friend who needs help with their online presence and offer to run their social media or ads for cheap.

Understanding your audience is more important than knowing every tool out there. Spend time researching customer psychology and why people click on certain things. Read reviews, join forums where your target audience hangs out, and pay attention to what problems they complain about. That knowledge helps you create messages that actually connect and drive sales.

You need to track what's happening with your campaigns so you can improve them. Google Analytics is free and pretty straightforward once you spend a few hours learning the basics. Check which pages get traffic, where people leave your site, and what converts them into customers.

Stay updated because digital marketing changes constantly. What worked last year might be useless now. Follow a few good blogs or YouTube channels that cover industry news and algorithm updates. You don't need to follow a hundred sources, just pick two or three reliable ones and check them weekly.

You can have perfect targeting and a great product, but if your ad copy is boring or confusing, nobody will click. Read successful ads from big brands and notice how they structure their messages. Then try writing your own versions and see which ones get better responses from people.

From my experience, lots of skills as long as you can get results, and show you get results. Lots of people say they know SEO, for example. Many of them watch a YouTube video and think they are SEO experts. The reputation of SEO has been very bad because of that kind of thing. Companies want results, not skills.

Honestly, I'd encourage you to try a bunch of different marketing disciplines and pursue the one that you're most interested in/naturally the best at. You're likely to do way better and go much farther that way.

If that doesn't work, you can't go wrong with a strong understanding of marketing strategy, brand development, product development, and content design. Those skills are applicable to pretty much any industry and would make you a very well-rounded marketer.
