Keyword length matters because it affects competition and search intent. Short keywords are usually very competitive and hard to rank for, especially for new sites. Longer keywords, often called long tail keywords, are more specific and easier to rank for. These keywords also bring visitors who know what they want, which is good for affiliate marketing. A keyword with about four to six words is often a good place to start for new sites. What keyword length seems to work best now?
 
Right now, 3–6 word keywords usually work best because they are specific enough to rank for but still get good traffic. Short keywords are too competitive, and very long ones often get very little search volume. In my view, it's less about exact length and more about choosing keywords that clearly match what people are actually searching for.
 
There is no fixed keyword length that automatically makes it a "good" target. In general, short keywords (1–2 words) are very competitive, while longer keywords (3–6+ words) are usually more specific and easier to rank for. For most new websites, focusing on longer, more detailed keywords works better because they match clearer user intent.

A well-structured keyword stays simple, natural, and directly related to the topic or problem being targeted.
