Some clients give freelancers a small, low-paying task first just to see how they work before trusting them with something more important. This is called a test project, and it is more common than most new freelancers realize. The problem is that clients rarely tell you this is what they are doing, so you might put in serious effort on a small job without knowing there is a bigger opportunity waiting. What signs have you noticed that suggest a client is evaluating you, and do you treat small projects differently when you suspect this is happening?
