Ask How do you handle being undercut by someone who clearly cannot deliver the same quality?

It is frustrating when you lose a job to someone charging a fraction of your rate, especially when you know the quality will not be the same. Some clients choose the cheaper option and only realize the problem after the work is done badly. But by then, you have already lost that opportunity. Lowering your price to compete does not feel right either, because it undermines the value of what you offer. How do you respond when this happens, and do you try to win back that client later or just move on?
 
I suggest the best move is not to chase the lower price. Clients who only care about cheap work usually don't stay long anyway. It's better to show clear value in what you offer, like better results, clear communication, and reliability. That attracts people who are willing to pay for quality instead of just the lowest cost.
 
If a client chases a rock-bottom price from someone who cuts corners, they're not really my ideal client anyway. I've seen it play out: the undercutter delivers late, uses cheap materials, or ghosts when problems pop up. Meanwhile, I keep doing solid work and letting my portfolio speak. Sometimes that client comes back with a mess to fix. Other times, they don't, and that's fine too. I'm not in a race to the bottom. I'd rather compete on value, not volume.
