From one of my friends that is into digital marketing, I heard something that I will like to confirm in the group before believing it. He told me that story telling ads perform better than pain banner. His claim is that story telling connects emotionally, and evoke a feeling that can make audience want to click on the affliate links.

What do you think? Is it true that it is possible for the storytelling ads to perform more than plain banner ads?

Instead of just flashing a product and a price, storytelling ads take viewers on a journey. This builds trust and keeps people engaged longer. On the other hand, plain banners are easy to ignore and often come off as generic or pushy. With so much content online, people crave authenticity and stories they can relate to. When a brand tells a story that feels personal, it's more memorable and persuasive. That's why storytelling doesn't just sell a product

If you're promoting something personal like weight loss products or financial advice, storytelling works because people relate to struggles and success stories. But if you're just advertising a discount on electronics, a simple banner showing the price and product might convert better because people already know what they want.

Storytelling works better on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or blogs where people expect to read content. Banner ads still perform okay on websites where people are actively looking for deals or products, like price comparison sites or review pages. Someone visiting those sites is already in buying mode, so a straightforward banner with a clear offer might convert just as well or better than a long story.

Banner ads have banner blindness working against them. People scroll past banners without even noticing them anymore because they're so used to seeing ads everywhere. Storytelling ads, especially in formats like native ads or social media posts, blend in better with regular content. They don't scream "this is an ad," so people are more likely to actually read them.

It's completely true that stories work better than just a plain banner. Think about it: a banner is just an image that says "Buy This!" and most people just scroll past stuff like that without even looking. But when you read or watch a quick story about how a product actually helped someone solve a real problem, that sticks with you.

It's not just about the emotional connection; storytelling helps you show the product in action without being pushy. With a banner, you see the product, and that's it. But a quick story can actually show the problem, introduce the product as the hero, and then show the happy result.

Most people scroll right past it without even noticing. We're basically trained to ignore them. But a storytelling ad pulls you in. It might show someone dealing with a problem you totally relate to, then casually show how a product helped them fix it. It doesn't feel like you're being sold to. It feels more like you're watching a short story or real-life moment. That makes people trust it more and pay attention longer

Really, storytelling ads usually connect with people better because they feel more natural and emotional. A plain affiliate banner often just throws a product in front of someone with little context. But a story shows a problem, builds interest, and then introduces the product as part of the solution. That keeps attention longer.
