I'm new to freelancing, and I have no idea how to set my prices. I don't want to charge too much and scare clients away, but I also don't want to work for too little. Some people say to start low to get clients, while others say to charge what I'm worth.

Should I check what others in my field charge, or is there a better way to decide? Do I need to offer discounts at first? I also worry that if I raise my prices later, I'll lose clients.

I just want to find the right balance. How do I set fair pricing for my freelance job without losing clients?
 
When you charge what your work is actually worth, you naturally filter out the cheap clients who do not value quality and end up working with people who respect your time and expertise. Dropping your prices to attract more clients just fills your schedule with low-paying nightmare projects while the freelancers charging good rates get to pick and choose the best clients and most interesting work.
