How can a freelancer initiate a conversation with clients without sounding so desperate?

To be honest, it is worth to be learnt. There should be ways freelancers can be conversing with clients in such a way that they won't sound too salesy. That doesn't mean that you should not sound persuasive enough. But you need to make sure that you are not pushing forward too many claims even those that you know you can't do just because you want to get attention of your clients. What do you think?

You say hello you introduce yourself and tell them what you do and how it can benefit their business. There's no way to go about it other than that because people really want to know the reason why you have messaging them. Will you go straight to the point you give that person opportunity to decide fast weather to accept your offer or not.
