It is common to see people spend hours or even days trying to rank for a keyword they believe will bring traffic, only to find out later it makes little difference. A keyword is simply a search term that people type into Google, but not every keyword leads to buyers or real engagement. Sometimes, a word may look promising because it has a good search volume, yet it attracts the wrong audience or brings no conversions. This can feel like wasted time and effort, especially when the focus could have been on content that actually solves a problem or answers real questions. Has anyone here experienced chasing the wrong keyword and later realizing it was not worth it? How do you decide which keywords are truly worth targeting?
 
I've wasted so much time trying to rank for a keyword that I thought was important, only to realize later it either had too much competition or wasn't bringing in the right traffic. I've learned the hard way that just chasing search volume isn't enough—intent matters so much more. Now, I focus on keywords that align with my content and audience instead of obsessing over ranking for a "big" term that doesn't really fit.
 
Yes, there are times when a keyword looks very promising during research, but after spending days creating content around it, the results turn out disappointing. Sometimes the search volume looks good, yet the traffic has very little buying intent or almost no real engagement after visitors arrive.
