While you don't need one, having a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business can give you an edge in the beginning. It helps you understand consumer psychology, data analytics, and corporate communication, which makes talking to high-ticket clients a lot easier.
 
It really depends on the size of the agency. If you are applying to a massive, traditional corporate agency, their HR department might use a bachelor's degree as an automatic filtering tool just to clear out the thousands of resumes they receive. But for boutique or mid-sized agencies, your actual skills matter way more.
