Many small businesses now run ads directly from Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok pages and still make sales without owning a website. This works well for simple products because customers can quickly send messages or place orders. Still, I believe depending only on social media is risky because platforms can reduce reach, suspend accounts, or change rules without warning. A website gives more control and usually makes a business look more serious to buyers. Social media pages are useful for starting, but they may not feel stable long term. So do you think businesses should eventually move beyond social media and build their own websites too?
 
A website is not always necessary. Some businesses run ads straight to their WhatsApp or Instagram DM and close sales there. What matters more is how fast you respond when someone reaches out. Slow replies will kill any ad, no matter how good it looks.
 
It actually depends on what you are selling. Physical products with simple pricing work fine without a website. But if what you are offering needs more explanation before someone buys, a social page alone will struggle to carry that weight and people will leave confused.
 
Many small businesses in developing countries run profitable ads with just a WhatsApp number linked to the ad. No website, no landing page. It works because the product is simple and the price is clear. Complicated offers are where a social page alone starts to fall short.
 
People forget that trust plays a big role here. Some buyers feel more comfortable when they see a website because it looks more serious. A social page can work, but it has to look very clean, updated, and professional, or people will scroll past without thinking twice.
 
It is possible to run successful ads with only a social media page, especially for small businesses, local services, or creators. Many people use ads to send visitors directly to their Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp pages. If the page looks professional and contains enough information, it can still generate inquiries and sales without a website.
